Offset’s Net Worth: What Is It?

Offset, an American rapper, singer, and songwriter, boasts a net worth of $28 million. He is predominantly recognized as a member of the hip-hop group Migos, which includes rappers Quavo and the late Takeoff. Together with Migos, Offset has released four studio albums: “Yung Rich Nation” (2015), “Culture” (2017), “Culture II” (2018), and “Culture III” (2021). During their peak, Migos ranked among the highest-earning music groups globally, accumulating $25 million in total earnings over a single year from 2017 to 2018. Sadly, Takeoff was murdered in November 2022. Besides his contributions to Migos, Offset is also noted for his marriage to Cardi B, which lasted from 2017 to 2023.

Early Life

Born Kiari Kendrell Cephus in Lawrenceville, Georgia, on December 14, 1991, Offset had a middle-class upbringing in Gwinnett County, Georgia, alongside his fellow musicians Quavo and Takeoff. The three are all closely related; Quavo is Offset’s cousin, while Takeoff is Offset’s cousin once removed (Quavo is also Takeoff’s uncle). Their musical influences included artists such as Outkast, Gucci Mane, Hot Boys, Lil Wayne, and Master P.

Career

In 2008, Offset formed the hip-hop group Migos with Quavo and Takeoff, initially known as the Polo Club. Their breakthrough came in 2013 with the single “Versace” following the release of their first mixtape, “Juug Season,” in 2011. Migos dropped their first studio album “Yung Rich Nation” in 2015, which achieved positions of No. 3 on the US Rap chart, No. 5 on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and No. 17 on the Billboard 200 chart. The single “Bad and Boujee” (featuring Lil Uzi Vert) in 2017 marked another significant success, becoming a viral sensation. Offset’s line “rain drop, drop top” particularly inspired numerous memes. Additionally, Migos released their second studio album “Culture” in 2017, which debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 chart and received RIAA platinum certification. This was followed by “Culture II” in 2018.

Aside from his work with Migos, Offset collaborated with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin on the album “Without Warning” in 2017, which included features from Travis Scott and Quavo, peaking at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 chart. In February 2019, Offset launched his first solo album, “Father of 4,” under Motown and Quality Control Music, showcasing artists like J. Cole, Cardi B, Big Rube, Gunna, CeeLo Green, and Gucci Mane. “Father of 4” debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 and received positive reviews from both critics and audiences.

In August 2022, Offset revealed plans for his second studio album and released two singles, “54321” and “Code.” He initiated legal action against his record label, Quality Control Music, over rights concerning his solo music. Offset’s legal representatives asserted that he had paid significantly for ownership of his solo artist rights following negotiations the previous year, but QC allegedly tried to claim his recent work as theirs.

Amid rumors that Offset had an affair with Quavo’s ex-girlfriend Saweetie, Quavo and Takeoff decided to part ways from Migos and formed Unc & Phew. On November 1, 2022, Takeoff was tragically shot outside a bowling alley after a Houston party. As a result, Offset postponed the launch of his new album. In 2023, an alleged physical confrontation occurred between Offset and Quavo backstage at the Grammys. However, they reconciled in February, reuniting for a tribute performance at the BET Awards honoring the late Takeoff.

Other Work and Business Ventures

Aside from his musical endeavors, Offset has participated in promotional campaigns for various fashion designers and brands such as Gosha Rubchinskiy, Bryce Barnes, and Lavati. In 2016, he made an appearance with his fellow Migos members in an episode of the show “Atlanta.” In 2020, Offset launched a new program on Quibi named “SKRRT with Offset,” which showcases him driving around in luxury cars with other celebrities.

In August 2019, news broke of Offset becoming a new investor in the Esports organization FaZe Clan; however, the specifics and amount of this investment remain private. He has since featured in two FaZe Clan videos on YouTube. Making his acting debut in NCIS: Los Angeles, he later contributed to assisting struggling artists by becoming involved with Axis Replay in 2020. After suffering the loss of his mother to bladder cancer in 2012, Offset raised funds amounting to $500,000 for the American Cancer Society.

Starting in 2017, Offset entered into a relationship with fellow rapper Cardi B. They tied the knot in a private ceremony in Georgia in September 2017 but chose not to announce their marriage until June 2018, when TMZ uncovered their wedding certificate. Despite being married, Offset famously proposed to Cardi during a performance in Philadelphia on October 27, 2017. In April 2018, Cardi revealed during her appearance on “Saturday Night Live” that they were expecting their first child. Their daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, was born on July 10, 2018. Additionally, Offset has three other kids: sons Jordan and Kody, and daughter Kalea, from previous relationships. The relationship between Offset and Cardi has been marked by ups and downs, often fueled by speculation of Offset’s infidelity.

On September 15, 2020, Cardi B initiated divorce proceedings against Offset, requesting primary physical custody of their daughter Kulture, child support, and a fair division of their assets due to the absence of a prenup. At that time, they were already living apart. A month later, whispers of their reconciliation surfaced. In June 2021, they announced they were expecting a second child, and later in the year, their son, Wave Set Cephus, was born. However, on August 1, 2024, it came to light that Cardi had filed for divorce again from Offset.

Offset has had multiple encounters with law enforcement, previously facing felony charges for burglary and theft. In 2013, after breaching his probation related to these felonies, he was jailed in DeKalb County, Georgia. In 2015, he was arrested alongside Quavo and Takeoff during a Migos concert at Georgia Southern University, facing charges including possession of a Schedule II narcotic, possession of marijuana, possession of a firearm within a school safety zone, and possession of a firearm while committing a crime. While still detained, Offset faced additional charges for battery and inciting a riot within a correctional facility following an altercation with another inmate. He was released in December. In 2015, he accepted an Alford plea deal after spending eight months in custody, which resulted in the dismissal of gun, drug, and gang-related charges. In return, he pled guilty to inciting a riot, agreed to pay a $1,000 fine, and serve five years on probation. An additional requirement of this plea deal was his banishment from Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven counties in Georgia.

Offset was charged with a felony in April 2019 for possessing three handguns and drugs, stemming from a previous arrest in July 2018. Furthermore, in October 2020, during a Donald Trump rally, he was detained by the Beverly Hills Police Department for carrying a concealed weapon but was released soon after. In 2021, he faced a lawsuit from Platinum Transportation Group, a car rental company in Los Angeles, after he reportedly rented a Bentley Bentayga, delayed its return multiple times, and then claimed the car had gone missing without any knowledge of its whereabouts.

Real Estate

It was disclosed in December 2019 that Cardi B and Offset had acquired a residence just outside Atlanta for $5.5 million. The expansive home, covering 22,000 square feet, consists of five bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, nestled on nearly six acres of land. The property was listed for $10 million in 2017. Below is a video tour of the estate:

Career Earnings

From September 2017 to September 2018, Migos collectively earned $25 million, with Offset likely receiving approximately $8 million from those earnings. This income was primarily due to an intense touring schedule, with the group performing 93 shows over 12 months. Additionally, they are among the most streamed artists worldwide, amassing 4 billion streams in that timeframe. Between September 2018 and September 2019, their earnings escalated to $36 million.
