Theodor Capitani von Kurnatowski, known as Theo Von, was born on March 19, 1980, in Covington, Louisiana. He is the child of Roland Theodor Achilles von Kurnatowski (deceased in 1996) and Gina Capitani, and he has two younger sisters alongside an older brother. Theo remarked in a 2018 interview with “The Press-Enterprise,” “Humor is a free currency not everyone can have. Growing up poor, it was the one thing I could control. I couldn’t control money, but I could control if I was funny.” After graduating from Mandeville High School, Theo enrolled in multiple universities including Louisiana State University, Loyola University New Orleans, College of Charleston, University of Arizona, and Santa Monica College, ultimately earning his degree from the University of New Orleans in 2011.

Theo began his stand-up comedy journey in Louisiana and moved to Los Angeles at 23 to focus on comedy professionally. In 2003, he was featured on the NBC reality series “Last Comic Standing,” earning the title of Last Comic Downloaded through an online competition. His comedy endeavors include participation in various international USO tours, with performances even at Guantanamo Bay. He has graced the stage on shows like “Live at Gotham” (2008), “Man Up, Stand-Up” (2010), and “Kamikaze Comedy” (2015), and starred in his own episode of Comedy Central’s “The Half Hour” in 2012. Personal Life

Previously linked to reality star Brandi Glanville, Theo Von has kept the details of his personal life largely private.

He has shared that a pivotal moment came when he arrived at a radio interview after a night of cocaine use and “couldn’t even talk.” Reflecting on that experience, he stated, “The main gift that God had given me was my voice. And I couldn’t even use it because I had spent the whole night using drugs to feel good somehow, or using drugs to feel anything at all.”

Sharing the stage with former MLB player Darryl Strawberry, who was 13 years sober then, Von recognized the need for change in his life and started attending AA meetings. He expressed:

“I sat down and listened to people tell their stories – which were always my favorite thing to hear. My whole life I’ve loved stories, man. Your story, whatever it is, I love it man because I just wanted a different story when I was young.“
